GREENWOOD HOLISTIC THERAPIES
Reiki may be one of the few therapies that is right for you in these unprecedented times.
Let me explain how.
With all the worry around close contact therapy as we live under the fear of COVID-19, Reiki therapy isn't constricted by the need to be there "IN PERSON", because Reiki can be practiced and benefited from remotely.
There is no need to travel to a clinic, wear a mask, or manage those awkward moments when you would normally shake hands (or hug), your therapist hello and goodbye, because you can remain in the safety and comfort of your own home, while I work on you from the safety and comfort of my therapy room.
And, with the wondrous advances in technology, we can see each-other and talk together during the session using ZOOM, a free video link service that can simply and easily installed on your computer, tablet or phone.
I invite you to book a free fifteen minute phone call with me to explore how the healing benefits of Reiki will enhance your life and wellbeing. There is no obligation, and no hard sell, so if you decided that its not the right time for you right now, the door will remain open as they say, to return at another time, for any of the therapeutic services I offer.
So What Is Reiki Healing?
I think we are all aware now a days that we are basically energy. It is generally accepted that physical matter accounts for somewhere between 1 and 10% of the entire universe, the rest is energy (source). Remove the space between our atoms - the energy - and the entire human race would fit inside a sugar cube! 99.999999% of you, is empty space - or rather, ENERGY (source).
When we realise the universal truth of this, we begin to understand that there are more ways than pills and operations to support health and healing of living beings. Energy medicine becomes logical, indeed, an imperative part of wellbeing.
Another fact that is pretty much accepted by everyone, is that stress causes, or is at least heavily implicated, in virtually every ailment known to man. We have the biological understanding of how stress, when not managed effectively, has a disastrous effect on the immune system, wreaks havoc with your mental health, and kills positive feelings such as joy, connection, love, fulfillment, peace... the list goes on.
So, with just those 2 simple facts, we can begin to accept that we need energy healing and energy balancing practices in our daily lives, and under these stressful times where we live in fear of infection, of loss, of financial and social hardship, every minute of ever day, now we need energy medicine even more.
So perhaps you are now feeling more open to the concept of Reiki Healing Therapy? But I am aware that some may remain skeptical about Distance, or Remote Reiki Healing. I know that I felt like that many years ago before I studied and grew my knowledge, wisdom and practice! But its quite simple. Its energy. Its not physical in itself, although it very much affects the physical, it is just energy. And as such, it doesn't require the same kind of physical presence as a physical therapy does. The energy can travel around the world and arrive with the exact right individual at the exact right time in the exact right place. Perhaps you need to experience it to realise the truth of it.
If you feel that you can not believe in anything that you can not hear, see, smell, taste or touch, then I ask you about the experience of love? Or perhaps the tangibility of fear? You can feel the physical sensations elicited by being in love with someone, the butterflies, the euphoria, the excitement - but those are physical manifestations of love, not the love itself. It is partly why philosophers and psychiatrists have been baffling to define love in a way that resonates with everyone since language was borne. Similarly, fear - you can not see, hear, taste or feel fear in a physical sense, yet you are probably aware of the physical manifestations of fear.
So too, you can not detect Reiki Healing Energy its self, but you will be able to experience the effect of the energy healing, even when it is practiced remotely, in a truly holistic way. It affects both the mind and the body - after-all, how can one separate the mind from the body? Quite an odd concept in fact, and differentiation that was a dangerous mistake of Rene Descartes of the 17th century (source). It sadly remains a dysfunctional foundation stone to modern medicine, although times are finally beginning to change for the better! Any way, I digress..!
Reiki, while spiritual in nature, does not depend on you believing anything at all. You don't have to be a member of a specific religious group, or practice any kind of spiritualism to benefit. You can be as skeptical as you like, but it wont last! It is benificial if you are committed to your own wellbeing journey, and in a place to receive the loving warmth of energy medicine. That means, if you are planning a remote session, you need to be "present", not rushing around as usual unaware of the gifts being offered.
Jikiden Reiki channels universal energy to facilitate the body's re-balancing and health. The therapist lays their hands gently upon the clients body, either physically or using the remote practice, starting at the head then moving to the legs and feet to "fill up" the energy. They then hover their hands over the clients body (when working remotely, the same is practiced), searching for areas of biosen - a sensation felt by the therapist where the energy is not flowing easily and is chaotically 'leaking' out the body. The therapist then lays their hands over these areas until the biosen quietens, signalling that the energy flow has been cleared and improved. The session finishes with a special massage to stimulate the lymphatic system and aid elimination of toxins from the body. This is a practice unique to Jikiden Reiki, and the only bit that cant be administered remotely, however, I can still provide energetic support to the lymph and elimination processes.
Reiki is an energy healing practice which originated in Japan. Practitioners use the life-force energy or “ki” all around us and are able to pass it on to re-awaken the natural healing process in others by focusing the energy on the areas that it is most needed. The founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui, discovered Reiki whilst fasting on Mt Kurama in Kyoto, Japan. He established the first Reiki organization – The Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai – which still exists today but sadly does not promote the teaching and circulation of Reiki or provide treatments. Its existence is not so well known. Usui only created 20 masters in his lifetime. Some belonged to the Gakkai, some branched out and created their own brand of healing but Dr Chujiro Hayashi, with Usui’s blessing, continued to teach Reiki in Japan in its authentic form.
Hawayo Takata was a Japanese-American living in Hawaii when doctors there declared that she was terminally ill and did not have long to live. She came to Japan for an operation but once there, met Chujiro Hayashi and received treatments from him instead. Within a year, she was cured of her illness and went on to learn Reiki, return to Hawaii and establish a healing clinic there. This was the beginnings of Western Reiki.
As Western Reiki spread throughout the World, it was thought that the original style of Reiki had died out in Japan and so any Japanese who wanted to know more about Reiki had to go to America to study it!
However, Reiki didn’t ever die out in Japan."
